Roy Peires started what would become the IDILIQ Group in the 1980s. The business operates today as the IDILIQ Group, with IDILIQ Hotels & Resorts forming the hospitality portfolio associated with its resort operations.
Charitable involvement began soon after the business was established, particularly on the Costa del Sol. Over time, that activity included support for local organizations, community projects, the IDILIQ Foundation, and initiatives such as Kind Holidays.
Roy Peires and the Early Development of the Business
Roy Peires founded the hospitality business that developed into the organization known today as the IDILIQ Group. Its documented activities include resort development and hospitality operations through IDILIQ Hotels & Resorts, alongside charitable involvement that began during the early years of the business.
Cudeca was the first charity identified in that history. The organization provides specialized palliative care and companionship to patients and their families facing advanced stages of terminal cancer, and early support included the donation of the reception area for Cudeca’s newly built hospice.
The relationship continued through financial contributions and practical assistance. What would become the IDILIQ Foundation sponsored Cudeca’s annual Walkathon, donated furniture and goods to charity shops across the province, and purchased a vehicle used by the organization’s Home Care team to visit patients.
More recently, patients and their families have received free accommodation at IDILIQ Hotels & Resorts through Kind Holidays. These activities form part of Roy Peires’ role in developing the IDILIQ Group alongside the community initiatives associated with the business he founded.
Building Community Investment Alongside Hospitality Operations
The IDILIQ Foundation is the charitable arm of the group Roy Peires founded. One of its largest documented infrastructure projects was the €1.6 million construction of the F. Cruz Dias-ADIMI Care Centre.
The centre currently provides treatment to more than 500 people. ADIMI is the only private nonprofit organization in Mijas dedicated to defending the rights, inclusion, and quality of life of people with cognitive and developmental disabilities.
Its services include Early Care, Child and Youth Services, a Day and Occupational Centre, and a residential facility for individuals with severe conditions. The two-floor centre also includes medical facilities, three dining rooms, waiting areas, gardens, and consultation rooms for psychotherapy and physiotherapy.
ADIMI continues to receive assistance through campaigns collecting materials and funds intended to improve the quality of life of its users. Roy Peires’ long-term community involvement also includes support delivered through the IDILIQ Foundation to organizations such as AECC Málaga, Afesol, Fuensocial, and Los Ángeles Malagueños de la Noche.
The foundation supports an annual internal campaign whose proceeds go to AECC Málaga and has provided the use of a resort apartment for children undergoing cancer treatment and their families. It has also donated furniture and household items to Afesol’s supervised living facilities and fully equipped a computer classroom for Fuensocial users with disabilities.
How Roy Peires Connected Hospitality Resources With Kind Holidays
Kind Holidays developed as another way for Roy Peires to connect the group’s hospitality resources with charitable activity. In 2012, the initiative became one of the early accommodation donors to Give Us Time, which organizes free hotel and resort stays for military personnel and their families.
In 2016, Roy Peires expanded the initiative by making space at IDILIQ Hotels & Resorts available to charities supporting seriously and terminally ill children, bereavement organizations, Children’s Hospices, and the Carers Trust. Within 18 months, approximately a dozen additional charities had joined the program.
According to the documented figures provided for the initiative, more than 2,300 people supported through more than a dozen charities have received free stays through Kind Holidays. Roy Peires has also presented the program as a model that other businesses in hospitality and travel can consider adopting.
Since 2022, Roy Peires has encouraged wider participation across the hospitality sector and beyond. The initiative has identified hotels, airlines, cruise operators, restaurants, taxi companies, and other businesses involved in travel and hospitality as potential participants.
The program demonstrates how accommodation within a hospitality business can be donated through charitable partnerships to families facing serious illness, bereavement, or challenges connected with military service. IDILIQ Hotels & Resorts primarily serves families and couples taking holidays, while Kind Holidays applies part of that hospitality capacity to charitable stays.
A Broader Network of Philanthropic Activity
Roy Peires has also been associated with charitable activity extending beyond Kind Holidays. Resorts on the Costa del Sol and Tenerife have hosted annual fundraising events, including support for Casa Ronald McDonald in Málaga, while staff in Tenerife have taken part in Mercedes-Benz Tour Amateur Golf Tournaments to raise funds for Asociación Nuevo Futuro.
The IDILIQ Foundation has supported the Christmas campaign for Los Ángeles Malagueños de la Noche by donating 500 Christmas Eve meals. It has also provided computer equipment to organizations including Asociación Cadi, El Faro de la Escucha, Asociación ALAS, and Fuensocial.
International education forms another part of Roy Peires’ work through the IDILIQ Foundation and his broader charitable involvement. He has supported Christel House for more than two decades, an organization focused on educational opportunities for children in underserved communities.
